FTP

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) allows files to be sent directly to a location across the internet, without experiencing the delays that email can suffer from.

This is especially useful for larger files that may not be accepted by email servers.

As more companies and individuals use broadband internet connections the use of FTP will increase because there is no cost involved in sending other than the cost of the internet connection.
